Canada invited 4800 immigrants in its Express Entry draw #249

Canada conducted an Express Entry draw for applicants to all Express Entry-managed programs on May 24. For this draw, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) went up by 5 points and the current CRS Score was 488 points.

The draw that took place on Wednesday was the second of May and the thirteenth Express Entry draw of 2023. A Provincial Nominee Program Nomination was required for entry into Draw 248, which took place earlier in May. However, because the latest express entry draw was an all-program draw, candidates from all programs were eligible and did not first need to receive a PNP nomination. The CRS score from the previous all-program draw was somewhat higher in today’s draw as well.

Canada Express Entry Draw #249
  • Date of Draw: May 24, 2023
  • Number of Invitations Issued: 4,800
  • Minimum CRS: 488 points
  • Program Type: Non-specified
  • Tie-breaker rule: December 26, 2022, 01:12:48 UTC
The IRCC is anticipated to start holding draws later this year that focus on Express Entry candidates’ unique skill sets rather than a high CRS score. Bill C-19’s Royal Assent in June 2022 made this feasible.

The proposed legislation will grant Canada’s minister of immigration the power to select applicants who will help the country achieve its economic objectives by relieving pressure brought on by persistent workforce shortages in particular industries.

As of May 24, 2023, immigrants had successfully submitted their profiles, according to IRCC 226,842. The biggest number of immigrants, or 57,405, had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 451 and 500. This is followed by 1,896 immigrants with a CRS score between 501 and 600, and 642 applicants with a CRS score between 601 and 1200.

When is the Express Entry next draw predicted to be held?

The next draw is predicted to take place on the 7th of May, 2023

How to apply for Express Entry?

Step 1: Check your eligibility

Verify if you qualify for one of the following streams under the Express Entry Pathway:
You must evaluate your profile in light of various aspects, including:
  • Age
  • Education
  • Work Experience
  • Language Proficiency
  • Adaptability

Step 2: The Education Credential Assessment (ECA) should be completed.

You must use one of the 7 assessing organizations that have been given IRCC approval to evaluate your education in accordance with Canadian Standards.

Step 3: Test your language proficiency.

You must take the Language Proficiency Test and receive at least a CLB 7 in each of the four modules (Listening, Speaking, Writing, and Reading) in order to be eligible for Express Entry.

Step 4: Create a profile and add it to the Express Entry Pool.

To enter the pool of applicants after passing your language and ECA exams, you must first construct an Express Entry profile.

Step 5: Get a letter inviting you to apply (ITA).

You will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), which gives you 60 days to submit your PR visa application and the necessary supporting documentation if your CRS score meets the minimum IRCC standard for the labor market.

Step 6: Send in your documents and the required processing fees.

Submit all of your documents in accordance with the document checklist. Ensure that all of your documents are accurate and free of any fabrication. Send in your application now, together with the required documents and payment for Canada PR.

Step 7: Obtain a COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence).

You will receive a COPR request after the IRCC officer has evaluated your documentation and application.

What are the advantages of the Provincial Nomination Program?

The benefits of the PNP program are as follows:
  • You can choose the province where you want to live.
  • One may apply for PNP without having a job offer.
  • You can work and study anywhere in Canada.
  • Receive protection under Canadian law.
  • Make use of social and family security services.
  • Sponsor your husband, children, parents, and other family members.
  • Can apply for citizenship in Canada permanently.
What is Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program?

A Canadian immigration program called the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) enables provinces and territories to suggest potential immigrants who meet the qualifications in terms of skills, education, and work experience needed to meet local labor market demands. It is intended to promote regional economic development by luring qualified employees, business owners, and investors to particular Canadian regions. The PNP is one method by which Canada regulates its immigration system, choosing applicants who can positively impact the nation’s economy and society.

If Express Entry is not an option for me, am I still eligible for a PNP?

Many PNPs demand that applicants have an active Express Entry pool profile. However, there are exceptions to this where some provinces provide nominations to applicants who do not have Express Entry eligibility. The eligibility requirements for these programs vary, so it is best to speak with a representative to determine whether you qualify. An applicant who obtains a nomination must then apply for permanent resident status with the federal government. Those applying for permanent residency through the PNP who are not aligned with Express Entry must submit their applications through a different portal, or through the mail. Application processing times are generally longer for non-Express Entry PNP applicants.

How are the points for the Provincial Nominee Program determined?

Since each province establishes its own eligibility standards, they employ various point systems to choose who can submit an application or receive an invitation. Points are often assigned based on a combination of factors including age, employment history, education, language proficiency, and ties to the province. Not all nominee programs rank their candidates using a points system.

What does it imply for a provincial nominee program to get an invite?

A province will effectively invite you to submit an application for nomination with an “Invitation to Apply” (also known as a Notification of Interest or Letter of Interest). Provinces will specify a date for applicants to submit their applications when they issue an invitation. Depending on the program an applicant is invited through, the deadline will change.
