Alberta Invited 201 Immigrants to the latest AAIP Draws

Alberta released the information regarding the draw held by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) on August 3, 2023, which is part of the Alberta Express Entry Stream. In this draw, a total of 201 skilled immigrants received invitations to apply for the Canadian Permanent Residence visa. The specifics of the draw encompass the count of invitations issued and the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores that were necessitated.
  • Date of Draw: August 3, 2023
  • Criteria: Family connection and primary occupation in demand
  • Invitations Issued: 201
  • CRS score range: 300-500
  • Minimum CRS Score: 315
What is the eligibility criteria to apply for Alberta PNP?

To be considered for a Notification of Interest or the Accelerated Tech Pathway through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AAIP), you should:
  • Have an active profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
  • Qualify for at least one of the federal immigration programs managed by Express Entry:
  1. Canadian Experience Class
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program
  3. Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Your main occupation in your Express Entry profile should be in demand, connected to a specific Express Entry stream, or linked to a provincial economic or sector priority.
  • Intend to live and work permanently in Alberta and show interest in moving there.
  • Score at least 300 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
  • Your main occupation should not be on the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations list.
  • The volume of applications for your occupation should align with provincial immigration goals.
  • You must not be a refugee claimant or involved in a federal appeal or removal process. AAIP cannot influence these processes.
  • You shouldn’t have an active nomination under any AAIP stream. An active nomination is one that hasn’t expired or is eligible for an extension or a nomination used for a pending permanent residence application.
  • You must not be ineligible for AAIP re-application due to misrepresentation.

In simpler terms, if you want to be considered for Alberta immigration through AAIP, ensure you meet these requirements based on your Express Entry profile and occupation, your intention to settle in Alberta, your CRS score, and your immigration status.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AAIP) evaluates candidates in the federal Express Entry pool and conducts draws based on profile information, inviting them to apply.

In 2023, selection will be divided as follows: 25% for high-demand occupations with family ties, 50% for sectors like healthcare and construction (favoring Alberta job offers), and 25% for the Accelerated Tech Pathway.

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), formerly known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, aims to invite immigrants who possess the necessary qualifications and work experience to settle in Alberta, Canada.

For skilled workers, there are two specific streams available:

Alberta Opportunity Stream: This stream is open to qualified individuals already employed in Alberta and foreign graduates who have completed their studies at a recognized post-secondary institution in the province. The program encourages student applicants whose training and employment skills align with Alberta’s current labor market demands to apply.

Alberta General Express Entry Stream: Candidates enrolled in the Express Entry program with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300 can apply through this stream. However, their occupation must align with Alberta’s economic diversification and growth priorities. If recommended by Alberta, they receive an additional 600 CRS points, significantly increasing their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

To apply for the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), applicants must determine the appropriate stream based on eligibility criteria. Those eligible for the federal Express Entry program can also be considered for enhanced streams. If the Alberta government expresses interest in their profile, applicants respond to the Notification of Interest and submit an application through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) website.

The two improved streams in Alberta are the Alberta Express Entry stream and the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway. Other streams fall under the base streams category, and candidates must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the AAIP portal without being selected through the Express Entry system.

When is the next Alberta PNP draw predicted?

As for the timing of the next draw for Alberta PNP, it is challenging to predict the exact date, as the province conducts periodic draws based on labor market demands and various factors. As of now, the specific date of the upcoming Alberta PNP draws in 2023 remains unknown.
