On March 21, 2023, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC-PNP) held two (2) draws under the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) programs for general immigrants, including tech professionals and targeted occupations such as healthcare, education-related occupations.

IELTS Academic and General Test fees to be updated from April, 1st, 2023

International Development Program India updates its IELTS Fee, which will come into effect on April 1, 2023. The revised fee is INR 750 more than the previous fee; where the previous fee for online and offline test cost INR 15,500/- per individual irrespective the applicant is appearing for the General or Academic IELTS exam.

The current IELTS fee will be coming into effect from April 1st, 2023 where the applicants will have to pay INR 16, 250/- whether they are appearing for General or Academic IELTS.

The Payment Method

The following methods are available for paying the IELTS test fee:

Net banking, credit/debit cards (Visa or MasterCard), Demand Draft, and Bank Deposit

Demand Draft – Please ensure that the demand draught is drawn in favor of “IDP EDUCATION INDIA PRIVATE LTD, Payable at New Delhi” and is made from the list of recognized banks. The list can be found here in the Terms & Conditions paper.

Bank deposit – As a substitute, candidates may deposit cash at ICICI or HDFC bank branches using a personalized deposit slip that may be printed from the IELTS IDP India website or acquired through the nearby IELTS IDP branch office/referral partner. The original customer copy of the deposit slip must be included with the IELTS application form.

Canada Express Entry Draw #243 invites 7000 applicants - latest draw

On March 15, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the immigration department of Canada, hosted Canada Express Entry draw #243 (at 17:08:16 UTC). To apply for a Canadian PR visa, immigrants were invited to participate in the Canada Express Entry draw.

This Express Entry draw was not for any specified program.

A total of 7000 skilled individuals who have an active Express Entry profile were nominated and invited to participate in the most recent Express Entry draw #243.

According to IRCC 245,121, immigrants had successfully submitted their profiles as of March 15th, 2023. And, based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, the highest number of immigrants, i.e., 65,826, have a CRS score of 451 – 500; followed by 3,216 immigrants having a CRS Score between 501– 600 and 784 applicants have CRS score between 601 – 1200.

Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) held a draw on March 10, 2023, inviting 815 immigrants under Ontario Express Entry’s Human Capital Priority Stream. This was a targeted draw aimed at Tech workers.

This draw was for the profiles created on March 10, 2022, to March 10, 2023, under Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) Express Entry System. Immigrants with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score anywhere from 479 to 489 were given the Notification of Interest (NOI).

Canada Visitors can now Apply for Canada Work Permit while in Canada

With the temporary policy extended by two years, visitors are able to continue to apply for work permits inside Canada.

Foreign nationals who are visiting Canada and obtain a legitimate employment offer can still apply for and get a work visa without having to leave the country. The ability for visitors applying under this public policy who had a work permit within the previous year to get temporary work permits so they can start working for their new employer more rapidly.

This COVID-era temporary public policy, which was due to expire on February 28, 2023, has been postponed until February 28, 2025, by two years. Employers in Canada now have a choice if they want to continue with this interim policy because many of them are experiencing severe labour shortages at this time of economic development.

Before this temporary policy change, those who wanted to work in Canada had to apply for their initial work permit before they arrived. They would need to depart Canada in order to receive their work permit if they were already there with visitor status when their application for one was accepted. This policy makes it unnecessary to leave Canada.

A candidate seeking to gain access to this temporary public policy must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible:

• On the day of application, have valid visitor status in Canada
• A job offer that has been supported by a labour market impact assessment (LMIA) or an offer that is exempt from an LMIA
• The deadline for submitting employer-specific work permits is February 28, 2025.
• The applicant must also meet all other criteria for admissibility

Visitors who have held a valid work permit within the last year can follow special guidelines to obtain temporary work authorization so they can begin working for their new employer before their work permit application is approved.

You must:

Be physically present in Canada at the time of application. You are required to remain in Canada while IRCC processes your application. This governmental regulation prevents you from being eligible if you depart while your application is still being processed.

Be an authorized visitor at the time you apply for a work permit. Before submitting an application for a work permit, you must renew your tourist status if it has already expired.

Made a work permit application between August 24, 2020, and February 28, 2025.

Had a work permit that was in effect for the full year prior to your application for a new work permit.

This draw was conducted for Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

A total of 667 skilled individuals who have an active Express Entry profile and were nominated by Canadian provinces under the Provincial Nominee Program (or PNP) were invited to participate in the most recent Express Entry draw #242.
